7 in 10 top Google Maps businesses were never named by ChatGPT or Gemini
In our Oct 2026 test of 12 AI answers per city and trade. We looked at 880 businesses. They were the Google Maps top 10 in 11 cities and 8 trades. 70% were never named. That is about 7 in 10.
Checked: . A shop is never named when it is in the Maps top 10 and none of the 12 answers said its name. This page does not list shop names.

The main name match says 70%. A looser match, which catches more short names, says 61%. For strong shops, the looser match says 45%. The real share is likely between 61% and 71%. That is about 6 to 7 in 10. This page uses the main method, and we say so.
AI answers change day to day. One city and trade can swing 10 to 20 points.
City and trade totals are steadier than one city and one trade. This was one day and one run. It is not a rank. We do not promise a business will be named.

Los Angeles was 82% and Houston was 81%. Both are more than 8 in 10. In Baltimore, 19% of 37 never named. AI named most of the strong shops there.
