Who does ChatGPT name for plumbers in Phoenix, AZ?
Checked:
The short answer
We asked ChatGPT: "Who is the best plumber in Phoenix AZ? Name specific businesses."
It named 6 plumbers. None of them were in the Google Maps top 5. Only 2 were in the Maps top 21.
But ChatGPT's first 3 picks matched the 3 plumbers in Google's regular search "map box" for "best plumber in Phoenix AZ." So ChatGPT seemed to follow Google search, not the Maps list.

What stands out
- Service Experts Tempe has 5,240 reviews and is number 1 on Maps. ChatGPT did not name it.
- ChatGPT's top 3 were the same 3 plumbers in Google's search map box, in the same order.
How we checked (plain words)
- Google Maps: top 21 results for "plumber," set to Phoenix, AZ, desktop.
- Google search: one search for "best plumber in Phoenix AZ."
- ChatGPT: asked once through DataForSEO, GPT-4o mini with web search on. Close to, but not the same as, the ChatGPT app.
- One answer is not a pattern. AI changes its answer. The real test is to ask many times and count. We will post the count when we have it.
- We did not check claims ChatGPT made about stars or reviews.
Why this matters if you run a plumbing business
Lots of reviews and a top spot on Maps did not get Service Experts named here. ChatGPT picked other names. If customers ask ChatGPT who to call, you want to know if you are on its list.
